We’re All Winners

December 3. 2009
There are special things happening in Argenta. The wreaths have gone up on the lamp posts. But there’s something else up there, too. Have you noticed? The new Argenta Arts District banners are up – and they look fabulous. There are images from several artists represented by the galleries in Argenta, and they make the street sing!
It definitely feels like the holidays around here. The trees in storefronts are going up, and lights are twinkling. This weekend brings the North Little Rock Christmas Parade, and we can’t wait to take our ministaffers and watch from the balcony.
Saturday night also brings the opening reception for the Arkansas League of Artists’ Winner’s Exhibition. It takes place at the THEA Foundation, and will feature work from members of the ALA. Bryan Massey, an accomplished sculptor and professor of art at UCA in Conway, was the judge for this exhibition.
The Arkansas League of Artists is an organization that was formed to promote fine art in Arkansas. The members of the League gather to learn from one another and frequently have Plein Aire programs where members go to the specified site to paint outdoors.
This annual Winner’s Exhibition is a wonderful way to enjoy and appreciate some of the talent we have in Arkansas. These working artists are supportive of each other and the arts, and constantly strive for the best.
So you see, we’re all winners with all the great stuff happening in Argenta!
